A Celebration of Life for Oscar Ray Owen is Friday, September 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 26, 2019 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and visitation on Friday is at the church 9:00 a.m. until service time. Internment is at Shiloh Cemetery.
Mr. Owen, 88 years old, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 21, 2019. He was born November 18, 1930 in Como, TN to Robert Orlando and Katie Malinda Highfill Owen. Mr. Owen is a retired U.S. Postal Employee; part-time Bank of Gleason Employee; member of First Baptist Church McKenzie where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, missions volunteer and on the TN Disaster Relief teams, he is member of McKenzie Rotary Club and is a past president and a Paul Harris Fellow; a member McKenzie booster club; local hospital volunteer; former McKenzie Rebel guard, graduate of the class of 1950 and graduate of Bethel College class of 1957.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Elizabeth Travillian, and brothers James Fleming Owen and Robert H. ”Bob” Owen.
He is survived by his wife of sixty three years Sara Kemp Owen, two sons Dana Ray (Karen) Owen and Oscar Clayton (Mary) Owen, five grandchildren Allison (Brian) Winston, Jacob Owen, Caleb (Alyssa) Owen Sarah (Tyler) Davidson and Joshua Owen and two great-grandchildren Avery and Owen Winston.
