Joan Welch

Joan Welch passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 25, 2024, with family by her side. She is survived by her sister Kathryn Smith, brother Phillip (Peggy)Welch of McKenzie, nieces Beverly (Stanley) Haywood, Angela (John) Hartz, Stacy (Jess) Shackelford of Smyrna nephew Steven (Renee) Welch and several great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister Marilyn Welch and parents Andrew and Dorothy Welch.

Ms. Welch was born in McKenzie, TN on September 22,1942, to Andrew and Dorothy Welch. Her greatest passion was that of teaching. She was an educator for over 30 years before retiring, spending the majority of her career teaching 3rd grade at McKenzie Elementary School. She was also a member of Union Academy Baptist Church where she served in various capacities and loved to teach and share the Word of God. She enjoyed baking, spending time with family and friends, and celebrating every holiday season. Ms. Welch loved God, her family and serving others in every facet of life.

 Funeral Services for Ms. Welch is Friday, November 29, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Union Academy Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Union Academy Cemetery.
