Funeral services for Frederick Bryan Woods, Jr (Fred) is Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home in McKenzie with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery, located just off State Hwy 423 at 95 Futrell Road Huntingdon, TN. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, May 11, 2019, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Elder John Baker will officiate the services.
Fred, age 67, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis with beloved wife at his side. He was born on August 5, 1951 in Memphis, TN to Frederick Bryan and Eugenia Jane Anton Woods. He attended Leach Seventh Day Adventist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Lynn Segarra Woods of Huntingdon, daughters Kathleen Higginbotham and her husband Johnny Eddy of Rodeo, CA, Brekke Moore Galindo and her husband Jesse of Henderson, NV, and Savannah Moore of San Diego, CA, and seven grandchildren who adored their Grandpa.
At the time of his passing, Fred was working for Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) as C.F.O for their Compass Intervention Center in Memphis, TN. Having dedicated his life’s work to healthcare, he worked for UHS for almost 20 years at various locations including Torrance, CA, Benton, AR and North Little Rock, AR. He also worked as CFO/controllers in other companies - Charter Medical Corporation, American Healthcare Management, Versacare Services, Healthcare Enhancement Systems, Compcare, Hialeah Hospital in FL, two reimbursement companies, one of which he started up-Progressive Management Systems for Gordon Stavig and one with Pat Guthrie. He also worked with Loma Linda University (LLU) Behavioral Medical Center, for which he engineered LLU buying a Charter Hospital for them.
Fred was a friend to many. He lived his life without judging people and always tried to see the good in his fellow mankind. He never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, no matter what their walk of life. Aside from his adored family, he also loved Memphis, his St Louis Cardinals, his cats, and Jesus.
