Services for Frank Newton Childress, 86, will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant.  Interment will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery near Christmasville, TN.  The family will receive friends on Monday, July 29, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 11:00 am until service time.  Mr. Childress, a retired supervisor at the Milan Arsenal Ammunition Plant in Milan, died Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.  He was born on March 1, 1933 in Sharon, Tennessee to Otis and Jenny Allen Childress. He was a member of Trezevant First United Methodist Church, a US Navy Veteran serving two years and loved to fish and play golf with his now deceased wife.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Rachel Joyce Black Childress who died July 28, 2009. 

 

Survivors include two sons Stanley (Joann) Childress of Bradford, TN and Charlie Childress of Ashland City, TN, three brothers Bob Childress of Nashville, TN, Andy Childress of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Melvin Childress of Washington State, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
