Harold Ross Martin

Dateline: McKenzie, TN Services for Harold Ross Martin, 80, will be held Monday, May 24, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of McKenzie with Brothers Dennis Trull and John Adams officiating with Mr. Ross grandson Brother Greg Barker delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 23. 2010 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Monday May 24, 2010 from 10:00 am until departure to the church at 1:40 pm. Mr. Martin, a retired Metropolitan Life Insurance Representative and owner of the Ross Martin Insurance Agency, died Friday May 21, 2010, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. He was born on December 11, 1929 in McKenzie, Tennessee to Luther Lee and Mossie Irene Cooper Martin. He was a member of First Baptist Church of McKenzie where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Pianist and Church Organist. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of the McKenzie Rotary Club and also served as President, Mr. Martin was a 1946 graduate of McKenzie High School and a graduate of Draughon Business College. While working in the insurance business he was a Million Dollar Round Table achiever for three years. Past time participation for Mr. Ross included football on college and high school levels at McKenzie High School, University of Tennessee and Bethel College; being an avid runner for four years with marathon running at Huntsville, Alabama. Condolences are evident and have been made for Mr. Ross Martins community involvement, he will be greatly missed by everyone he came in contact with, through his walk in life . He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sisters: Caywood Martin, Hazel Martin Brewer, Kathryn Martin Patterson and Jean Martin Marshall, his wife Martha Elizabeth Tinsy Fite Martin, and his son Phillip Martin. Survivors include his daughter Carol Martin Barker of McKenzie, three grandchildren: Greg and Amy Barker of McKenzie, Leigh Ann and Julio Mendoza of Springdale, AR, and Beth Martin of Huntingdon. Eight great grandchildren: Ashley Barker, Madison Barker, Holly Barker of McKenzie, Austin Mendoza, Kristian Mendoza, and Nadia Mendoza of Springdale, AR, Riley Carter and Bryson Martin both of Huntingdon.
