Dateline: McKenzie, TN Services for Charles Robert Ramey, Sr., 74, will be held Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 10:00 am at McKenzie Funeral Homes Cedar Avenue Chapel with Bro Kenny Carr and Bro Claude Prince officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, TN. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Thursday, March 13, 2008 from 9:00 am until Service time. Mr. Ramey, a City of McKenzie Councilman and a retired clerk from the US Postal Service, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was born on July 3, 1933 in Missouri to Robert and Myrtle Belch Gott Ramey. He was a member of Long Heights Baptist Church in McKenzie a Korean War U S Army veteran, a member of VFW Post 4939 in McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother George Ramey and two sisters Joyce Gott and Dorothy Adams. Survivors include his wife Nancy Emerson Ramey of McKenzie, one daughter Donna Sellers-Baskin and her husband Sonny of McKenzie, one son Charles (Chuck) Robert Ramey, Jr. of McKenzie, five sisters Bea Staten, Ruth McDonald, and Nita Coco all of Missouri, Mary Jane Ramey of New Mexico, and Phyllis Smith of Arizona and one brother Earl Gott of Missouri, also five grandchildren and four great grandchildren Memorials may be made to McKenzie Memorial Library, 15 Broadway Street, McKenzie, TN 38201.
