George Herbert Shelton

Dateline: Gleason, TN Services for Mr. George Herbert Shelton, 68, will be held Monday, April 28, 2008 at 2:00 pm at McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro. Brett Mebane officiating. Interment with Honors will follow at Carroll Memorial Gardens in McKenzie. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Monday, April 28, 2008 from 10:00 am until Service Time. Mr. Shelton, a former Police officer in Ridgely, TN a former Chief of Police in Tiptonville, TN and a retired Investigator for the Weakley County Sheriffs Office with a total of 31 years in law enforcement, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Regional Hospital of Jackson. He was born on February 27, 1940 in Belleville, Illinois to George and Grace Daniels Shelton. He attended Twin City Community Church in Hollow Rock, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Earl Robert Shelton. Survivors include his wife Vera Carroll Moore Shelton of Gleason, three daughters and two son in laws Karen and George Johnson of Dyersburg, TN, Theresa and Ricky Scott of McKenzie, Debbie Moore of McKenzie, five grandchildren Leigh Ann Johnson and her fianc Mark Dutton of Knoxville, TN, Trae and his wife Kayla Johnson of Clarksville, TN, Lauren Scott of McKenzie, Mandi Johnson of Dyersburg, and Kaitlin Scott of McKenzie, and one great granddaughter Addison Johnson of Clarksville. The Weakley County Sheriffs will have Honors at the gravesite following funeral services. McKenzie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
