Charles Prentice Travis

Dateline: McKenzie, TN Services for Mr. Charles Prentice Shorty Travis, 85, will be held Friday, August 22, 2008 at 2:00 pm at McKenzie Funeral Home with Rev. Jonell Copeland officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 21, 2008 from 4:00 pm, until 8:00 pm and Friday, August 22, 2008 from 10:00 am until Service time at the McKenzie Funeral Home. Mr. Travis, a retired worker for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Oak Manor Nursing Home in McKenzie. He was born on February 12, 1923 in McKenzie, TN to Turney and Vannie Fly Travis. He was a member of Blooming Grove Methodist Church and a WWII US Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 46 years Gladys Sampson Travis who died March 30 1992, they married May 14, 1945, two brothers Wilson Travis and J. C. Travis, a great granddaughter Ashley Travis and a grand son in law David Robinson II . Survivors include a son Barry and his wife Wanda Travis both of McKenzie, a grandson and his wife Kevin and Becky Travis of McKenzie, a granddaughter Jennifer Robinson of McKenzie, two great grandsons Austin and Ethan Travis of McKenzie, and a great grand daughter Anna Robinson of McKenzie .
