Arthur Dale Beard

Dateline: McKenzie, TN Services for Arthur Dale Beard, 73, will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 3:30 pm at McKenzie Funeral Home with Brothers Kevin Gallimore and Bobby Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Gordon Cemetery near his residence. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 7, 2011 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 11:00 am until service time. Mr. Beard, a retired truck driver and former landscaper/tree planter, died Saturday, March 5, 2011 at his residence. He was born on November 18, 1937 in Hornbeak, TN to Franklin Eugene and Ollie Timmons Beard. He was a US Army Veteran serving from 1961 to 1963. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Mavylee Simmons and Mattie DeHartt, four brothers Don Beard, Claude Beard, J.W. Beard and Wayman Howard Beard. Survivors include his wife of 48 years Melody L. (Dixie) Blalock Beard of McKenzie, two daughters Kathleen (Kathy) Sweeney, Alice Marie Machael, four sons Arthur D. (Art) Beard II, Matthew (Matt) Beard, Walter Donald (Donny) Beard, Bryan Eugene Beard, three sisters Geneva Forrester, Beverly Swofford, Fanny Jo Morton, a brother Marvin Beard, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
