Dateline: McKenzie, TN Services for Lewis Ben Cooper, 95, will be held Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 11:00 am at McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Joyner officiating. Interment will follow with US Navy Funeral Honors at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery near Christmasville, TN. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 9:00 am until service time. Mr. Cooper, a Carpenter and farmer and retiree from the Milan Arsenal Ammunition Plant, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at his residence. He was born on April 12, 1915 in Christmasville, TN to Calvin Jackson and Pearl Mae Lewis Cooper. He was a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, a World War II US Navy veteran, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Effie Genella Pratt Cooper who died August 30, 2005, five sisters and four brothers. Survivors include a daughter Joan Diane (Bobby) Giles, a son Danny Sherrell (Judy) Cooper, a brother Carl Cooper all of McKenzie, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
