Dateline: McKenzie, TN Services for Elery "Rod" Norfleet Parker, 64, will be held Monday, August 22, 2011 at 2:00 pm at McKenzie Funeral Home with Brother Jim Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Long Rock Methodist Church Cemetery near Huntingdon, TN. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Monday, August 22, 2011 from 12 noon until service time. Mr. Parker, a retired Clerk of 35 years for the United States Postal Service in McKenzie, died Friday, August 19, 2011 at Tennessee State. He was born on February 28, 1947 in Mansfield, Tennessee to George and Estelle Mizell Parker. He was a member of McKenzie Church of Christ, a 1965 Henry High School graduate, a 1973 Bethel College graduate and served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970 being Honorably Discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant . He was preceded in death by his father, his wife of 30 years Ruth Parker, and a step son Donald Sanders. Survivors include a daughter Jeanie Sanders Lowe of McKenzie, TN, a son James Douglas Sanders of Huntingdon, TN, his mother Estelle Parker of Henry, TN, four sisters Janice Perry and Mary Malone both of Paris, TN, Betty Cate and Joyce Parker both of Henry, TN, three grandchildren Josh Lowe and Tashia Lowe both of McKenzie, Melissia Townsen of Huntingdon, three great grand children Will Townsen and Braden Townsen both of Huntingdon, and Helen Donnell of McKenzie. .
