Funeral Services for Mr. Oline Bateman, age 88, will be at 11a.m., Friday November 2, 2012 at the Cedar Avenue Chapel of Brummitt - McKenzie Funeral Home with Brother Dennis Trull officiating. Visitation for Mr. Bateman will be 5 p.m.-8 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012, visitation on Friday will begin at 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie. Mr. Bateman died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Beloved husband, father, & grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dunning Bateman, two sons, Charles M. Bateman and wife Janet of Ocala, FL., Terry A. Bateman and wife Jill of Chevy Chase, MD, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Oline was born November 11, 1923 in Huntington, TN and was the last remaining child of ten brothers and sisters born to Charles and Lula Bateman. He was one of three brothers to serve in World War II. Oline and Dorothy have been members of the First Baptist Church of McKenzie since 1951 where Mr. Bateman served as a Deacon. He retired from Milan Arsenal after 43 years of service. His ready smile and thick white hair was a welcome sight to all the greeted whether in nursing homes, the Senior Citizen Center or on his daily walks to the McKenzie Square. He will be missed dearly.
