Dateline: McKenzie, TN James R. Mercer, 87, a self-employed parking lot paint striper and painter, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Mercer was cremated and a memorial may be held at a later time. He was born on March 6, 1926 in Science Hill, Kentucky to John and Ima Robbins Mercer. He was Methodist in faith and an US Navy, World War II veteran being honorable discharged as a Metalsmith Third Class. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 58 years Eula Spears Mercer, two daughters Jan (Jack) Hammonds, Patsy (Mike) Mattox, two sons Larry Mercer and John (Cindy) Mercer all of McKenzie a brother Charles Mercer of Greenwood, IN, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
