Barbara Kelly Sykes

Funeral Services for Barbara Kelly Sykes, 99, will be Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cedar Avenue Chapel of Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home. Burial will be at Wilson County Memorial Gardens, Lebanon, TN. Visitation will be Saturday, September 13, 2014, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:30 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Sykes, a retired Junior High \High School English teacher and member of First Baptist Church McKenzie died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Jackson Regional Hospital. She was born November 24, 1914, in Ruston, LA to Ed and Pinkie McCrary McCallum. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Lt. Col. Jack Shannon Kelly and Dennis Sykes and brother Gerald McCallum. Survivors include her daughter Vee (Al) Spivey of McKenzie, two grandchildren Scott (Jennifer) Spivey and Kelly (Mary) Spivey all of McKenzie, five great-grandchildren Brooke Spivey, Kelsey Spivey, Luke Spivey, Tyler Spivey and Anna Grace Spivey and her Brother -in- law George Kelly of Atlanta, GA. In Lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorials be made to the Malta Fund at the First Baptist Church McKenzie or to the Gideon's.
