Ms. Dorothy B. Simon died Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. She was born August 28, 1928 to O.D. Jack" and Nettie I. (Daniels) Buttolph in Plainfield, N.J., Dorothy later graduated from Cranford (NJ) High School and Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, and then she worked in Newark, NJ as a secretary in the early 1950s. She moved from Cranford, N.J. to East Derry, N.H. in 1955 and helped run a family dairy farm there for a dozen years. After getting a divorce in the mid-1960s, she became a fulltime substitute teacher in Derry and surrounding towns, and then taught for two years at Manchester West High School in Manchester, N.H. In 1969, she began teaching at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, N.H., and spent the next two decades teaching English at Pinkerton. After retiring and spending several years in the 1990s in East Derry, she moved to Huntingdon in 1997 to be closer to her daughter, Sharon, who died of stomach cancer in October, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, by brother James D. Buttolph, by son Robert R. Simon, by daughter Sharon I. Simon McCall, by daughter-in-law Linda S. Simon, and by ex-husband John P. Simon. She is survived by her son J.D. Simon and by two grandchildren. No services will be held.
