Dateline: Trezevant, TN Services for James Paul Baxter, 84, will be held Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at McKenzie First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Bother Malcolm Norton and Reverend Garrett Burns officiating. Interment will follow at Trezevant Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home in McKenzie and Monday, June 29, 2015 from 9:00 am until 11:000 am at the church in McKenzie. Mr. Baxter retired from Martin Marietta, died Friday, June 26, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. He was born on June 7, 1931 in Trezevant, TN to John William and Mary Edna Neal Baxter. He was an Elder at the McKenzie First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and had formerly served as an Elder at Trezevant Cumberland Presbyterian Church, he is a member of Trezevant's Farmers and Merchants Bank Board of Directors, former owner of B & B Trading Post in Trezevant, former member of Carroll County Chamber of Commerce serving as Chairman and was a Heritage Award recipient, he was a member of the Trezevant Ministerial Alliance active with the Trezevant Food Bank, an US Army Korean War veteran and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 55 years Bonnie Sue Allen Baxter and a brother Billy Wray Baxter of Union City, TN. Survivors include three sons: James William (Tammy) Baxter of Gallatin, TN, Jeffrey Ray (Susie) Baxter of Columbia, TN, Jackie Lynn (Cindy) Baxter of Spring Hill, TN, five grandchildren: John William Baxter of East Ridge, TN, Jessica Baxter Weaver of Columbia, TN, Jillian Rebecca Baxter of Columbia, TN, Jackson O'Brien Baxter of Spring Hill, TN, Wesley Allen Baxter of Spring Hill, TN, two sisters: Betty Lou Dorris of Hendersonville, TN, and Elizabeth Jane Spellings of Huntingdon, TN. .
