Funeral Services for Charles G.L. Smith, Jr. (Johnny), 81, will be Monday, September 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cedar Avenue Chapel of Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home. Burial will be at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, McKenzie. Visitation will be Sunday, September 13, 2015, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Monday, 11:00 a.m. until service time. Mr. Smith, retired truck driver, factory worker, Vietnam Air Force Veteran and member of Liberty United Methodist Church former member of Community Grove Methodist Church, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at his residence. He was born April 21, 1934 in Fremont, VA to Gilmer and Flora Orender Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son John Neal Smith and four sisters Lucille Sheperd, Catherine Gaber, Elizabeth Reaves, and Mildred Lankford. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years Helen Taylor Smith of McKenzie, one step-daughter Judy Fausz of Collinsville, IL and two daughters Joyce (Randy) Hale and Jean Smith all of McKenzie, two sisters Alice Bradley of Ashland City, VA and Nell Winn of Dunnsville, VA, two brothers Don Smith of Alexandria, VA and Ross Smith of Ashland, VA, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
