James "Horsefly" Lee Rogers

  Dateline: McKenzie, TN   Services for James “Horsefly” Lee Rogers, 87, will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home with Brother James Hazlewood officiating.  Interment will follow with Military Funeral Honors at Morris Cemetery in Greenfield, TN.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 11:00 am until service time.  Mr. Rogers, a retired Shipping Clerk for General Motors in Lansing, MI, died Sunday, December 6, 2015 at his residence.  He was born on October 2, 1928 in Greenfield, TN to James Zebulon and Pauline Cochran Rogers. He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in McKenzie, a Korean War US Army Veteran earning the Purple Heart, a member of McKenzie Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4939, and a member of McKenzie Senior Citizens Center.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandmother Dottie Cochran who raised him after his mother died in 1937, a sister Linnie Sue Rogers who died in 1945, and his first wife Mary McGehee Rogers.    Survivors include his wife Barbara J. Scott Rogers of McKenzie, six nieces Carol (Tim) Pugh of Atwood, Regina Story of Atwood, Lisa (Kevin) Flippin of McKenzie, Alice McGehee Smith, Joanie Buczek and Deb Smith all of Chicago, Il, three nephews William (Doris) Story and Ronnie (Kay) Story of McKenzie, Mike McGehee of Nashville, three step grandchildren Derrick (Katie) Garner of Palmersville, TN, Blake Garner of Lavina, TN , and Zach (Daniella) Garner of Dresden, TN, and two step-great grandchildren Myleigh and Nevaeh Garner of Paris.    Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Flippin, Ronnie Story, William Story, Chance Flippin, Kelly Story, and Mason Powers.   Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  For more information please call (731) 352-4848 or visit www.brummittmckenziefuneralhome.com.
