Dateline: Trezevant, TN Services for James Ross Gilliam, 69, will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 12 noon at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home with Brother James Hazelwood officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 9:30 am until service time. Mr. Gilliam, a retired agent for the Soil Conservation Service for over 30 years and when retired was working out of the Huntingdon office, died Monday, October 10, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was born on October 24, 1946 in rural Carroll County, TN near Christmasville to William Bradley and Alice Ruth Ross Gilliam. He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in McKenzie, he was the former Mayor for the City of Trezevant, he was also retired after serving 26 years with the Tennessee Army National Guard in McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carol Kaye Bryant Gilliam who died May 26, 2016. Survivors include his son Jimmy Gilliam of Trezevant, two grandchildren Celina Michelle (Caleb) Crocker of Lavinia, TN, Zachary James Gilliam of Trezevant and a step great grandson Hunter Crocker of Lavinia, two brothers Jerry (Evelyn) Gilliam and Marvin (Shirley) Gilliam all of McKenzie.
