Dateline: McKenzie, Tennessee Graveside funeral services for Eugenia Jane Anton Woods, 93, will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Elder Clyde Lee and Elder John Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 12 noon until 2:00 pm at the funeral home in McKenzie before departing for the cemetery. Mrs. Woods, a seamstress and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at her residence. She was born on January 24, 1924 in Memphis, TN to Eugene Haynes and Ivy Jane Sills Anton. She was a member of Leach Seventh Day Adventist Church in Leach, TN where she played the piano and organ for services for many years. Mrs. Woods had many talents and loved to be with people. She was a member of the Silver Thread Quilt Guild and also taught knitting and crochet for the Silver Thread Needlework Guild, winning many trophies in the Senior Games throughout the years. She was an original member of the Angel Choir for Seniors and also volunteered for Hospice at Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon. She had worked as a Mail Order Correspondent for Sears and Roebuck in Memphis, sewed for a number of people and did costumes for several studios in Memphis. She then went to Vocational School and became a LPN at Methodist Hospital in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Fredrick Bryan Woods, Sr. who died September 7, 2015, two sisters Phyllis Ritchie formerly of Dearborn, MI and Annie Jo Arnold formerly of Knoxville, TN, two brothers Eugene Anton and Fred Anton both formerly of Memphis. Survivors include a son Fred Woods, Jr. and wife Lynn Woods of Huntingdon, TN, a granddaughter Kathleen Higginbotham of Rodeo, CA, and four grandchildren.
