James Robert Barton

  Dateline: McKenzie, TN   Services for James Robert “Dobber”  Barton, 91, will be held Monday, March 27, 2017 at 11:00 am at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home with Elder James Churchwell officiating.  Interment will follow at McBride Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm and Monday, March 27, 2017 from 9:00 am until service time.  Mr. Barton, retired from the West Tennessee Public Utility District died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Hillview Healthcare Center in Dresden.  He was born on March 19, 1926 in rural Carroll County Tennessee to Robert Roosevelt and Mattie Pauline McCloud Barton. He was a member of McKenzie Primitive Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Air Corps, assigned to the 3543rd Army Air Forces Base Unit Military Training Center in San Antonio, Texas .  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years Minnie Lee Davis Barton who died July 15, 2011, a son Robert Earl Barton, and a brother Roy Barton.    Survivors include a son Dennis Barton and fiancée  Rita Lewis of Henry, TN, a sister Nancy Moore of McKenzie, a brother Wilford (Peggy) Barton of Christmasville, TN, five grandchildren Renee Verner, Mandy Gammil, Chris Barton, Nicholas (Chasidy) Barton, and Chase (Jill) Barton, 12 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.   Pallbearers who will be serving are: Chase Barton, Nicholas Barton, Chris Barton, Tyler Verner, Anthony Moore, and Wayne Moore      Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  For more information please call (731) 352-4848 or visit www.brummittmckenziefuneralhome.com.
