Mary Katherine Webb, 89, passed away Nov. 15, 2017 in Spring Hill, Fla. Mrs. Webb was born in McKenzie, Tenn., in 1928, the daughter of E.L. “Lee” and Ida Sutton, the fourth of five children in that family. In 1946 she married Robert W. “Bob” Webb, also of McKenzie, and a decorated World War II combat veteran. Mrs. Webb’s life as a wife and mother was focused on her family and her Christian faith. She was humble, understated and content in simple pleasures. Throughout the years, her hobbies included gardening, sewing, tatting, fishing and tastefully repurposing items that others discarded as junk. She also helped design and decorate three homes, one of which she and Robert built from a “blueprint” they drew on a cardboard box. Mrs. Webb’s homes, like her demeanor, were genuine country. Mrs. Webb was a former employee at Wilker Brothers (Pajama Factory) and the Ben Franklin store in downtown McKenzie. She was a longtime member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Webb was predeceased by her daughter Rosemary (2002, age 53) and husband Robert (2003, age 81). She is survived by her caregivers, son Jeff and daughter-in-law Nancy, and grandchildren Elizabeth, Meredith, Sarah and Stacey, several nephews, nieces and great-grandchildren. Visitation with family will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28 at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Interment at Shiloh Cemetery will be private. Friends unable to attend the service, but who wish to express their condolences, may consider making a memorial contribution in Mrs. Webb’s name to Northcliffe Baptist Church in Spring Hill, Fla., and specify it be forwarded to her Sunday School group, the King’s Daughters.
